EVE Online – Homeworld Redux

with one comment

Am checking out a free trial of EVE Online, and am struck at how much it stylistically¬† resembles the classic space combat game Homeworld. It’s a reminder that all art is influenced by what has come before, and how important it is that society is allowed to reuse parts of its own cultural history without getting stifled by copyright lawsuits.

TSA Not All Bad?

leave a comment »

Jim Wright writes about how the US¬† Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has actually made flying safer since its inception. Bruce Schneier supports Jim’s assertions (Bruce is a security technologist who who coined the term Security Theatre, an epithet that has often been applied to the TSA).

At the end of the day, though, the security picture in the US is largely open to interpretation.
