Looking at the traffic stats for my blog, it’s amusing to note that the most popular technical article (about configuring TeamCity for SubVersion) is eclipsed by a throwaway comment about yoga pants

Why ‘Unstable Terrain’?

with one comment

Software development is often compared to building a house.

However, a house builder rarely has his customer arrive as the foundations are being laid and say, “You’re doing great, but I have decided that I don’t need a house, but rather a houseboat.” It’s even rarer that the builder nods and replies, “no problem. I’ll have a preliminary design by Friday.”

The title of this blog refers to the unique situations software developers experience in the course of their duties.
